Having recently lost another friend to cancer, I am reminded how ridiculously short our lives are, and how each day gives us opportunities to connect with people in our lives, to strengthen our relationships, and to be grateful for all of those precious moments that we are able to share together. We are all guaranteed death. “Nothing is more certain than death and taxes…” so spend your life and your money wisely. And don’t wait to tell people you love them. Tell them! Make it weird 🙂    This month we honor and celebrate one of ODDUA AUDIO’s most famous author’s, Dossie Easton. She is the co-author with Janet W.  Happy New Year, and now on to more awesomeness… 2024 brought so much, and we are off to new audiobooks to come, and new possibilities for even more awesomeness in the studio in 2025. Also, more traveling, writing, singing, and creating! Yes, I’m a nerdy lady who makes audiobooks because it’s fun! Because I like working with people, documenting their unique voices, knowledge, and stories. I get all warm and fuzzy on the inside when someone bravely lays down some amazing story on the mic, and I get to record it! Every author I get to record are already amazing people, and I feel like one of the luckiest people on earth that I get to work with them. Keeping my mind and heart open to what’s coming in 2025. Just saying hello in the video below. I’m going to do more videos in 2025, and my dorkyness is something that I just don’t want to edit out. I will get better at this, I promise :)  In November of 2024, Allegra traveled to Los Angeles to record Kathleen Cameron’s audiobook, “The Best of Yourself” which will be released this Saturday, January 11, 2025. It was a pleasure and an honor to work with such a dynamic individual, and she did such a wonderful job narrating her audiobook. This audiobook is the first collaboration with Soul Sparks Press, and we are so excited to help bring this life changing audiobook to fruition.   Kaya Griffin came in to record her audition for music school. We captured audio and video for her that day. What a talented young lady! We officially changed our name to ODDUA AUDIO! Changing our brand name from ODDUA Publishing LLC to ODDUA AUDIO LLC is more congruent with the digital audio products that we produce, and will hopefully give people a more accurate view of what we do.  We are excited to announce a new production partnership with Soul Sparks Press, a new publishing company founded by one of ODDUA’s authors, Deepika Sandhu.  We welcomed the new addition to the ODDUA AUDIO family, a new (to us) Yamaha Baby Grand Piano! It’s a little bitter sweet how this beautiful instrument came to us, as we have inherited it from our dear colleague and play auntie, the late Gail Dobson, who recently passed this April.  ODDUA AUDIO was presented with the “Startup of the Year” Award, at the 21st Annual Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce’s Awards Luncheon  First Music Album Recorded in the Hummingbird Hut. We had The Faultline Trio in the studio to record their first album. Scott Larson, of TriTone Productions, engineered the sessions, and the album is scheduled to be released in late Spring of 2025. Not only is this Faultline’s first album recorded of original music, but also the first Neo Soul/Jazz album to be recorded in the Hummingbird Hut Recording Studio.  Allegra Bandy featured on “The Mammahood” Blog. Allegra was interviewed by Heather Anderson, the founder of The Mamahood, and THE CLUB.The Mammahood “is where we mamas go to lift each other up and be supported ourselves."  Our newly built studio, The Hummingbird Hut is in full recording swing! New Team Member: Daryl! Welcome Daryl to the ODDUA AUDIO Family! We're thrilled to introduce the newest addition to our team, Daryl, hailing all the way from the vibrant Philippines! As our social media and marketing maestro, Daryl brings not just expertise but also an infectious passion for storytelling and connecting with people. A self-declared globetrotter, Daryl has a knack for diving headfirst into diverse cultures, savoring unique experiences, and capturing them all on his ever-growing YouTube travel vlog. Whether it's chasing sunsets, exploring bustling cityscapes, or savoring local delicacies, Daryl thrives on meeting people from all walks of life—believing that these connections are the true architects of personal growth. Note from Allegra : Happy Holidays As this year comes to a close, I am amazed at what we have accomplished. And this is just the beginning! I am excited to move forward with this new studio, with new audiobooks on the horizon, and hopefully some fun creative vocal projects for myself. Winter is an ideal time for going within, for reflection, and planning. I'm hoping to be able to take some time for that, and maybe even write some music while it's raining and storming out. New Baby Grand Piano!
Please welcome the new addition to the ODDUA AUDIO family, a new (to us) Yamaha Baby Grand Piano. It’s a little bitter sweet how this beautiful instrument came to us, as we have inherited it from our dear colleague and play auntie, the late Gail Dobson, who recently passed this April. She will always be remembered as a fantastic vocal teacher, musician, loving mother of Sasha, Smith, Laura and Fred, and wife of the late Smith Dobson, IV. She was a talented jazz vocalist and beautiful human. We are so grateful to have her piano in our Hummingbird Hut Studio now. You will be missed Mamma Gail.
